Radcliffe Borough 1-4 Bury

Radcliffe Borough 1-4 Bury

A young Bury side kicked off our pre season schedule with a good performance and a 4-1 victory over Radcliffe Borough last night.

Manager David Flitcroft did select a very youthful side for our first friendly of the summer, with only four first team players in the squad - Nathan Cameron, James Burke, Keil O'Brien and Ashley Grimes.

The remaining players in the squad were either trialists or youth players, and two of the latter were part of the squad for the Morecambe game on the final day of last season, Scott Burgess and Marcus Poscha, so clearly Flitcroft is hoping those two will be first team challengers this coming campaign.

Goals came from James Burke, a brace from Ashley Grimes and trialist Anthony Laus.

We are waiting on news about O'Brien as it looked like he picked up an injury after 30 minutes and was quickly replaced to limit any potential damage.

And one particular cheer came in the second half when physio Tom Walsh entered the pitch to take up a forward role.

Bury:

Reice Williams, Poscha, Cameron, O'Brien, Widdowson, Burke, Bourne, Burgess, Grimes, Dudley, Anthony Laus.

Ben Potter for O'Brien (30), Tom Walsh (physio) for Dudley (58?).
