Platt Signs New Bury Deal

It's being reported that striker Clive Platt has now extended his contract at the club.

The very experienced 36 year old joined the club last January on a short term contract, and the club offered him a 12 month extension at the end of the season and following the holidays, and with the players now back in training, pen has been put to paper on the deal.

Assistant manager Chris Beech confirmed the new contract to the Bury Times and explained.

'Clive has not been a problem. He was always aware of what was going to happen at the club and he is at an age now where he has got to be managed correctly - he knows what part he has got to play in the squad.'

Brass goes on to say that having had that conversation with the player, they were more than happy for him to continue with that role if he wanted to, and of course he looked at his options over the summer, but Brass says he was excited by the challenge ahead and moving on would've been the easy option so to speak, so for him it's no real surprise that the deal was done and the management staff are delighted to have him continue with us.

The assistant gaffers also admits that our transfer business is most likely over for the summer now really and they are happy with where we stand, but obviously we will continue looking and there is the possibility that if things go our way - players are assessing options still in some cases - we could see the arrival of another two or three players but if that happens they will certainly be later rather than sooner now.

And obviously we will be looking at the loan market especially in August.

With the club having a few trialists, Brass also says it wouldn't be a stretch considering we haven't had many in, to think that talks have already been opened with those who are with us.
