Ran out of steam yesterday, striker Clive Platt was manager David Flitcroft's third addition to the squad alongside Akpa Akpro and Andrew Tutte.
The very experienced 36 year old has signed a short term deal which will keep him at Gigg Lane until the end of the season, and no doubt David Flitcroft is hoping he can do a job both on and off the pitch especially with some of our younger lads.
He's reasonably well travelled in his long career so far, as having started with Walsall back in 1995, he has since gone on to play for Rochdale, Notts County, Peterborough, MK Dons, Colchester, Coventry and Northampton most recently, so has bags of experience at this level and the level we are trying to get back to.
In that time he has gone on to make 559 career starts across all competitions, and has a further 114 appearances from the bench. In that time he has scored 125 goals.
Speaking to the Official Site after signing his deal, Clive said.
'I'm excited about what I have seen after only one day at the club, the chairman's vision is something I very much want to be a part of. Obviously I know the manager very well and his enthusiasm rubs off on any player, no matter their age. I'm excited by this challenge and I look forward to being involved as soon as possible.'
The gaffer said of the signing himself.
'The football journey at Bury is full of good people, and Clive is another great human being to have with us. He knows football inside out and his experience will be invaluable to us. Clive is a leader and enjoys leading a team, his hold up play is second to none and now that we have plenty of pace and power in the squad, it will be important for Clive to hold the ball up for us.'
Platt has been handed the No 22 shirt for his stay with us, he did join us in time to play a part in today's game against Accrington Stanley, however as fans know that match has been called off owing to the weather today.
Final squad change news is the announcement yesterday also that midfielder Marco Navas has left the club.
The club and the player came to an agreement that saw his contract mutually terminated, and he has now returned to Spain. Since joining us in the summer he has only played three times for the club, and Bury wish him the best for the future.
