'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jepson Gives His Goodbyes

Ronnie Jepson has released a fullsome statement on the official site given the club his regards and wishing them the best for the future following his departure owing to the arrival of David Flitcroft.

In his statement our former caretaker gaffer says he met with the chairman the other night and the impending appointment of Flitcroft was discussed, and he thinks the chairman is a 'fantastic fella' who just wants the best for the club and having looked to overhaul the managerial side of the club, Jepson fully understands where he's coming from in terms of his spell with us now being over.

'I understand the PR and I understand that I come under the Kevin Blackwell umbrella. The chairman maybe wants to go in a different direction which I understand.'

Whilst some results could well have been better for the club during his time as caretaker boss, Jepson says he will leave with his head held high given he only lost two of our last eight league games and he was pleased with how he managed to rally the team and galvanise them into a unit that did see a decent upturn in results.

'The new management coming in has a good set of players and with 2 or 3 additions they will have a top team.'

Jepson goes onto build on that comment by saying that he really doesn't feel the team is too far off where it ought to be in terms of having a team and style that can challenge for the promotion spots in the future, and although he did make some loan moves in the market, Jepson admits Flitcroft will have freer hand in that department than he did, so hopefully we will get the additions we need.

He goes on to thank the fans for their support of him during his time with the club and he hopes they will now get behind the incoming manager, but ultimately he has no regrets at all from his time here.

Hopefully all will move on to bigger and better things now.
