Blackwell Left Frustrated
Kevin Blackwell has said the 2-1 defeat to Fleetwood left him frustrated again.
Speaking to the Official Site he talked about how difficult the start to the season has been with us playing four out of the top seven sides, and in the game against Fleetwood is joked that in the first half there was a very strong wind blowing down the pitch against us in the first half, but for the second half somebody had flicked the switch and it stopped.
'We were quite happy with the way it was at half time with a 1-0 lead. Then what a wonder goal the lad (Sarcevic) score to make it all square. We are close, but not close enough.'
Blackwell points to us taking the lead and then hitting the bar as a bit of a changing point in the game, as if we had managed to go 2-0 up it might have been too much of a mountain for Fleetwood to climb in terms of getting back into the match especially as at the end of the game they were hanging onto the result in his eyes as we were vastly on top.
The positive that Blackwell can take is, short of one match, the opener against Chesterfield, we have been in all the games we have played and only lost matches by a single goal, so we are well in it and teams are dominating us on the pitch, but we just aren't getting the breaks in these sorts of games.
That should come with increased confidence and after all the team are still gelling together, so they are by no means the final product, and if the effort and determination is there, once the understanding really comes and we make ourselves some luck, games like these will turn into games that we take a point from, if not all three.
As a point was what the manager believed we at least deserved last weekend.
