Schumacher - My Future's Not In My Hands

Schumacher - My Future's Not In My Hands

Player of the Season Steven Schumacher has not ruled out remaining at Bury next season, but he's admitted his future isn't in his hands because of the financial position of the club.

Speaking to the Bury Times he explained.

'I can't tell you the answers because I think that it's probably out of my hands. I would say the investment, and people coming in, and the direction the club goes in, I think that is going to determine where a lot of the players are going to be.'

The 29 year old says that most of the players are in limbo, whether that be those still contracted to the club, or those awaiting potential offers, and nobody can really do anything until they know the outcome of the investment talks, although personally for him the potential opportunity to play in the Championship is tempting for him.

'I think the chairman, the directors and the board are going to have to get their heads together and think who they are going to need to keep and who they are going to let go if the budget is going to be slashed, like I've heard it's going to be. You need to get a little luck and hope that somebody likes you and gives you an opportunity and, if someone like that does come in then great, but if they didn't then I would play at any level. It's out of my hands.'

Schumacher does add though that if he leaves the club he hopes the fans won't view him as being somebody who has 'jumped ship' because he loves the club and the fans and says that his time here has probably been the best of his career.
