Bury's survival bid was given a boost with a surprise victory against joint League One leaders Doncaster at Gigg Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Doncaster started the better of the sides, and looked likely to extend their 12-match unbeaten away run but couldn't force the breakthrough, which Bury did as they grew into the game with Andy Bishop (25) the scorer.

One became two soon after with Nicky Ajose (36) claiming the second.

The visitors pushed, towards the end of the first half and in the second but couldn't, try as they might, force a breakthrough with Bishop spurning another chance to secure the points but 2-0 was enough to give them a first win in 13.
